Does company like Adidas, Nike and Puma do R&D and Testing for every model of their shoes? Or is it for high end models only and the other ones are just to make money?

I have always wondered that these companies make 1000s of different models…do they put effort in each of their shoes?
They advertise even in mid range models that they are using this "tech".

But is it true?
