This is a pair of On Runner Roger shoes… they started to smell a little bad so I cleaned them per the manufacturer recommendations. The smell persisted, like a mildew smell. I noticed these spots on the bottom and at first I thought it was just first, but they appear to be underneath the gum rubber part of the sole and I believe it is mildew/mold and is what’s causing the smell. These shoes are a few months old and the rest of the shoes is still very clean and in good condition. This doesn’t seem normal that moisture should be able to get between the layers of the outsole like this and create mildew. I just wear them for daily use and they have not ever been in a moisture heavy situation, especially for long periods of time. Any thoughts this? ON is claiming it’s not a manufacturers defect… I believe it is, and whatever they use to adhere the layers of the outsole did not get full coverage and has resulted in allowing moisture between the layers. It’s very frustrating as they aren’t cheap shoes that I haven’t had very long. Never seen anything like this with any other pair of shoes I’ve ever had
